Re-reading The Last Unicorn

The unicorn says, “Real magic can never be made by offering up someone else’s liver. You must tear out your own, and not expect to get it back.”

Replace “magic” with “art”, and I think it’s equally true.

(This book is one of my all-time faves. If you’ve never read it, I strongly urge you to fix that. :) )
