In Memory Of is at 5500 words now. I'm really finding that unless I have a couple of hours (or more) straight to work on it, I can't get much of anything done... 'cause if I'm so busy that day that I only have an hour of free time, then it takes a while for me to get relaxed and into writing mode, and then into the mode for that particular story... and then there's like five minutes left before I have to stop. :P But at the same time, I really hate not working on it at all any given day. I'm paranoid that if I miss too many days I'll lose the flow and all the work I've done so far will go down the toilet.

This is not helped by the fact that I'm going to be working 8am to 7pm, breaks not included, at least three days per week in the next two weeks. And the days that aren't 8am to 7pm are 8am to 5pm. And then adding on the hour's travel time each way... I'll pretty much be here only to eat and sleep and shower. Guh.

At least I can write on the weekends. And make notes and stuff on the bus. I'll make it work.

Sent off a story to the Bash Down the Door... anthology. Would have liked to edit it a little more thoroughly but the deadline's next Monday, and I can't send it on Monday 'cause August 1st is a civic holiday up here. So, I did my best.

That makes three stories and one article Out There. (The article has been put in the consideration pile for future issues, but no guarantee they'll decide they want to use it. At least I know they liked it all right, though!) And I should be hearing about all three stories sometime in August. Methinks my stops at the mailbox are going to be somewhat anxious for now on. ;)

Oh, and my bad day last week? It reversed itself. This week, I've gotten the rest of my story payment plus a bunch more free copies of the magazine than I excepted, the right version of the DVD I ordered, and an interview for a job that should be even better than what I'm doing right now. And, it finally cooled off! Hurray! Okay, so I still don't know what I'm going to do with the rest of my life in tandem with writing, but hey, that can come later.

Everything works itself out in time.
