I've been reading a lot of great posts about 2006 reading lists and favourite books of the year, and I realized that I have no idea what I read this year. I mean, sure, I could name, oh, a couple dozen I'm pretty sure I read in the last twelve months and not before, and maybe by scanning my bookshelves I could add another dozen to that, but... I haven't been keeping track of these things, and I started using the library again, and I unloaded a bunch of books when we moved. :P

So, it's not quite a resolution, but I've decided to start keeping track. Made up a Word file to write down each book I've read as I finish it. And next year I'll be able to make a "Books of 2007" post.

In the meantime, these are the books I got for my birthday and for Christmas, which I will probably be reading this year. Most of them I asked for, the Gangemi and the Rendell were from a vague request ("noir/crime fiction"), and the Prose one was out of the blue, but looks interesting:

Adult Fiction
The Essential Ellison - Harlan Ellison
Inamorata - Joseph Gangemi
Carter Beats The Devil - Glen David Gold
Shakespeare's Landlord - Charlaine Harris
Special Topics in Calamity Physics - Marisha Pessl
The Crocodile Bird - Ruth Rendell
Air - Geoff Ryman

Young Adult Fiction
Inkheart - Cornelia Funke
Magic or Madness - Justine Larbalestier (one of last year's favourite reads, actually--so I had to own it)
Paranoid Park - Blake Nelson
A Chalice of Wind - Cate Tiernan

Daughter of Persia - Sattareh Farman Farmaian
Reading Like A Writer - Francine Prose
