Past the starting line

So one of the boys was sick today, and I came home early, and figured, what the hey, might as well get started on that novel! Possessing Lucy now has 625 words. I'm not sure how much I like those words--I'm thinking too much about trying to make it good (because I know I'm planning on letting people read this draft) and it's a different style than I'm used to, and, well, beginnings are always hard for me. But tomorrow I'll take another look before I keep going. And I may just have to accept that if I let people see it, they're going to be seeing a first draft, with all that entails, and stop worrying so much. :P

Gah, I hate first chapters. I just tell myself I know I will be rewriting it completely by the time I am in the second revision and try to ignore it. First draft readers will understand. Good luck! Hooray for a new novel!

Thanks for the congrats! I find I revise first chapters and last chapters more than anything else in the book. There's just so much riding on them!
