Stirring the well

I have a really hard time taking a break from writing. It's not like I have any story ideas that are clamoring to be written RIGHT NOW, but I still feel guilty that I'm not writing. So I let myself play with various ideas that have been floating around in the back of my head, poking at them, testing to see if they're ripe. Some of the things I've been considering:

-Bad Luck Boy: all the agents who read a partial or the full suggested that it needed to be fleshed out more. Could I turn it into an upper MG or even a YA? Not sure I can stretch the premise enough and keep it believable for those ages.

-Whichway Hall: I've been dying to work on this idea forever, but I still haven't figured out a way to make it come together so the story is interesting, not just the concept behind it.

-various untitled ideas, one related to the premise of an anime series Chris and I have been watching, another that's a sort of action-y YA with a hint of science fiction... My mind wandered into the latter last night and gave me a first line, and this morning I wrote a paragraph that grabbed me. So it's gotten a little further than my other meanderings, which still doesn't mean it's going to become a new project. I'll have to see if it keeps gnawing at me, and if it still works as the details come together.
