A journal by any other name

I'm thinking it's finally time I switched my LJ name to something that, well, identifies itself as me, rather than some odd word that anyone who hasn't known me for a while won't recognize. I'm not deeply attached to 'inkchangeling'--it went with my former writing site, Changeling Ink, which was replaced a few years back. Most likely, I will become 'megancrewe', for simplicity's sake.

I haven't gotten around to purchasing a rename token yet, though, so if anyone wants to try to convince me otherwise (or to tell me how much better blogging has been since they switched names, by way of encouragement), feel free! ;)

*blushes* That's so sweet of you! Thank you so much! I didn't expect that at all.

I intentionally keep LJ distinct from my professional presence on the web. But that's me.

I've thought about that... but I really want to have a blog where I can interact with other writers and (when I have them) readers, and I can't see keeping up with two.

I admit to never realizing who is who unless the name is a real one. I try to buy as many "friends" books as I can. I swear I'm dense! If Cindy went by RuberDuckieQueen instead of CynthiaLord, I probably still wouldn't have read RULES. Okay- maybe that's a stretch but still...

Point taken! As soon as I'm done replying to these comments, I'm going to go straight to the renaming place. ;)

I've known you for so long that I don't see "inkchangeling" anymore. I always refer to you as Megan. Maybe that's because I've mailed you Christmas cards? Who knows! lol. But I think that because the blog is such a professional one that you don't have to worry about your personal blogging side if you were to change just to your full name. *salutes*

I think when you've known someone a long time, and referred to them by their real name often enough, your brain just makes that leap... I see your username and it's sort of a merged 'astres-kate' in my head. :) Good to know the blog's come off as professional--I've tried to keep it that way as much as possible!

I've been trying to get mine over to more professional, too. At least on the public front. It's hard. I don't want to delete my older posts but the majority of them are private now.

Yeah, right after I sold the book I went back and changed all my Friends filters and deleted some posts that I really didn't think it was good to have available to anyone, just in case. I've never posted anything really controversial, but I'm kind of paranoid about that sort of thing. :) I think your LJ has seemed pretty professional lately... It's hard for me to judge because I don't register whether an entry is locked or not most of the time.

I've had my journal since grade 10 so you could imagine how disgusting some of my posts are. I don't want to delete them so everything from 2006 and earlier is private (I think) to just keep all that safe and sound.

I have a fannish LJ and a me LJ, just so I can keep them separate. Why spend 15 dollars when you can just start an extra journal for free?
Feb. 10th, 2008 02:54 am (UTC)
Well, see, if I started a new journal to be my professional one, I wouldn't want it to have ads, so I'd end up paying $25 a year anyway. And I'm not sure I could keep up two blogs--I have enough trouble updating this one regularly! :D I have much admiration for anyone who can come up with enough topics to keep two going.

I second what Lisa said.

All right then! A-renaming I shall go. :D
