me 2011

One-time Memeage

Because it's going around, and there are some of you reading this whom I've never really talked to:

1. When did you first "friend" me?
2. Why did you first "friend" me?
3. What posts of mine do you like to read the best?
4. What would you like me to write about that I don't?
5. Do you think we would be friends in real life?
6. How often do you read my journal?
7. What do we have in common?
8. Will you post this in your journal so I can answer?
9. Is there anything you want to ask me that you think you should know about me to avoid the impersonality of the internet that I have not already covered in some TMI post or other?
Feel free to answer as many or as few as you like.

(Of course, you may also feel free to answer none at all.)

The Not-Writing Post

dlandon asked to know more about non-writing stuff in my life; hence the post. I do have a life beyond writing... I'm just paranoid about sounding uninteresting if I write about it. And this is a writer's blog after all.

But a little update every now and then can't hurt, eh?

Still in the not-so-new-now apartment with Chris. Have all of the essential furnishings along with some splurges (e.g., beautiful, old-fashioned chair for writing *pets*). Few problems and landlord's always been quick to help when one arises. Apart from occasional school-stress, Chris is happy and healthy and lovely to be with. So all's well there.

Still working in the same field (doing private behavioral therapy with kids who have autism), have two new kids I'm working with along with the original three. Aged 4 through 8 (one of each), and each very cute and amazing and annoying in his own special way. I've got lots of stories about 'em, but there are privacy issues there, plus it's hard to really explain why something was so amusing or exciting if you haven't been there. But I'm always happy to talk about autism and related topics if anyone has questions/comments/whatever.

Finished the psych degree back in May. Prof had talked about getting the thesis published but is rather disorganized, and I got tired of trying to track her down. Finally made the decision to forgo grad school for the immediate future. I realized that the only reason I was struggling with it was that I knew my parents would spaz when I told them. As for me, I know I'm happier just living life and figuring things out as I go for now. And, well, they did spaz, but hopefully the air will have cleared soon. I'll probably go back to school eventually, but not until I've got a better idea of what I want to get out of it.

Planning a trip to Britain next September, when Chris will be done his degree. Revisiting some favourite spots and checking out some new ones. Wish September wasn't so damn far away. We've talked about maybe living and working in London for a year or two, but that would be a ways off.

So that's my life as it looks right now if you put it through an auto-summarize.
