dream away

All right!

Contract from Brutarian arrived today. Huzzah! Let it now be considered official that "Horns" will be appearing in issue 44 (which I think is the spring 2005 one, not sure when it'll be available exactly). When I have more details, I'll be sure to share 'em.

In other news, I have discovered my new favourite classic SF writer. Sorry, Bradbury, but I'm going to have to hand over that title to Zelazny now. Had read the first Amber book in my teens and liked it but not loved it. Got a collection of his short stories (The Doors Of His Face, The Lamps Of His Mouth) after hearing very good things about one particular story (it was a year ago, so I don't remember which one, my best guess is "This Moment Of The Storm"), finally started reading it last week, totally blown away. I mean, many of the big guns in SF are known for having innovative and insightful ideas, and I wouldn't say Zelazny rises above the rest in that respect, but damn, the guy can write. There's a subtlety to his prose and a poetry to his phrasing that I can only wish I came close to.

As soon as I finish the last few stories in the collection, I've got to check out the novel of his I picked up a few months ago, Lord of Light. And after gvwilson's recommendation of Jack of Shadows... Well, let's just say I may have to go on a Zelazny binge this month. ;)
