Place names

I've got to say, coming up with place names is so much harder than character names. I want something that sounds fitting and catchy, but not cheesy or over-used--and that sounds like a city name, not an obscure little village name. I suppose I could just use a real city, but then I'd be worried about telling things inaccurately and I wouldn't feel I could just stick in whatever I wanted, 'cause people who lived there would know I messed things up. It's not a huge deal, but this is a place I want to have a lot of atmosphere, and to appear in a whole series of novels rather than just one, so it's bugging me. So I figured, why not...

Poll #898762 Naming a City

Check any that sound like they could be an interesting, if possibly unusual, city.

If it matters--this is probably going to be a city by the ocean, probably on east coast of the US as I've never been to the west coast. I may throw a "Beach" or "Bay" or "Quay" after another word to make the whole title, but doesn't really sound city-ish to me. *sighs*

Anyway, thanks if you vote, thanks regardless if you don't! It's all in good fun. :)
