The sadistic muse

I had a scary dream the other night involving a scene from Carrie Ryan's THE FOREST OF HANDS AND TEETH (an intense and emotionally-wrenching read if there ever was one). Which was rather unusual, because I hardly ever dream from books--I'm much more likely to dream bits from movies or TV shows where the visual impressions are clearer. In fact, the only other book-based dream I remember having was a dozen or so years ago, after I read the beginning section of Stephen King's THE STAND.

Considering this, it occurred to me that there's a common theme here. Apparently, what frightens me the most profoundly? Plague.

The thought that popped into my head immediately after? I should write a book with a plague! Imagine all the emotional agony I'd have to draw on!

I don't know if I ever will write a plague book. But it's a little comforting to know that my creative side isn't so selfish as to stop at torturing my characters. It's clearly quite eager to torture me as well. :P

The first time through I thought it said plaque. Like, tooth-plaque. haha. But I am also petrified of plagues, you should write it. Scary stuff.

Well, plaque could be pretty scary, too... :D If I get a plot, I probably will write a plague book. I figure the best writing comes when you're writing stuff that really gets to you emotionally... and plague definitely gets to me.

Hey Sweetie Bear.
I noticed that my name is spelled wrong under our books. It's MacLeod. .Not McLeod. :)

I printed off Loki Boy and I'm taking it to Winnipeg with me and am looking forward to reading it on the plane. Is it too late for a crit??

Ack! Sorry about the misspelling! :P I will go fix it now.

And it's definitely not too late for a LB crit! I probably won't go back to the story until late January or February so there's lots of time. :) Hope you enjoy it!
