Several good things on a Saturday

1. I just finished the first draft of the Japan book! Woohoo! 73,000 very rough, in much need of revision words. ;)

2. The Kirkus review of GIVE UP THE GHOST is up, and my editor says I can share the whole thing! So here it is:

Sixteen-year-old Cass McKenna has been an outcast since junior high, and she’s just fine with that, thanks. What does she need with the living when she can see and speak to the dead, who furnish her with all the delicious gossip she needs to get back at the jerks who blackballed her so viciously so long ago? Cass’s only confidante is the ghost of her sister Paige, and she lives in polite half-silence with her dad while her mother accepts far-flung freelance travel-journalism assignments to escape her grief. When student council vice-president Tim approaches Cass to ask if she can contact his late mother, the two slowly—in prickly fits and starts—inch toward friendship. The weight of Tim’s loss is palpable, and as Cass comes to understand the depth of his sadness, she begins to embrace life again herself. Beneath some predictable plotting is a poignant character study of a deeply wounded girl moving toward a nuanced, forgiving view of humanity. Crewe’s first effort will make readers wonder what else she’s got up her sleeve.

3. My editor also told me that the finished books are in! Eeeeeee! She's sent a couple to me already, so expect pics soon.

4. Today is exactly one month away from GHOST's release date. Not that I'm counting. *coughs*

5. If all that wasn't awesome enough, the Debs are doing their monthly giveaway! Click on the image to enter:

Nice review :) I wonder why your ARC says 8/09 as the release? Probably because things are constantly changing, right? Still, how exciting that it's almost here!!

Yep, it was originally going to be an August release, but after the ARCs were printed Holt pushed most of their fall dates back a little.

Hee hee, the Japan book needs a lot of work before I let anyone see it--and I need to take a trip to Japan to get my locations sorted out. But I will certainly call on you when it is ready!

And thank you for the squees! :D
