I got a book idea today from watching Miley Cyrus music videos on YouTube with one of the kids I work with. :)

Will I actually write that book? That will probably not be seen for at least a couple years. (My ideas like a long simmer before they’re ready to be written.) But if I do, at least I’ve got that one frequent interview question figured out!

Question for the writers: What’s the weirdest way you’ve gotten an idea for a story?

I work at a newspaper, and one time a woman came in to place an ad to sell her condo, which was in an old school. I got to thinking about what ghosts there must be in an old school, and a character popped into my head, and a story to with her. :)

I was trying on clothes at WalMart and overheard a conversation between two teen girls outside of my changing room - girl A was giving very backhanded compliments to girl B; girl B seemed very 'wanting to please'; girl A seemed to be relishing it. It turned into one of my favourite story ideas ... and, naturally, the characters that developed in my head are now a far cry from those girls, but that was where it all started. :)
