Question of the week: Aliens on Earth

Answer in as little or as much detail as you like:

Do you think aliens have ever visited Earth? Why/why not?

I don't think anything that we can interact with has (so, I'm discounting things like possible single-cell-type organisms or proto-life on comets and things). I guess I think that because I don't see any persuasive evidence.

I guess, philosophically speaking, I'd like it if aliens who came here were interested in interaction, and were interested in being known. Our model for understanding this is alien encounters that have happened in our own history, between very, very different cultures. Or between humans and other intelligent life forms on Earth. The outcomes are mixed, but I like the desire to know one another, and I'd hope for that in aliens.
