The best laid plans

The boy and I were talking last night about editing content vs. editing style, and I went on for a bit about how I find rewriting works for the former and line editing for the latter. Took a look at the first page of Signi on the Subway today and realized that I didn't have enough room on the page for all the changes and changes to changes I was going to want to make, and besides, rearranging sentences and phrases was going to make it all very messy. So I think there's actually going to be another rewrite. Except this one is going to be all about style, and I will not leave a sentence until I am sure it is saying exactly what I want it to say (or until I spend a half an hour trying to figure out how to do this and still can't come up with perfection, in which case it will wait for the final draft ;)).

Here's hoping this won't add too much time to the editing process. I do still want to have this ready for readers in a couple of weeks. By the end of December at the absolute latest.

*takes a deep breath*

Here it goes.

I love Blood and Chocolate. Have you read Companions of the Night by Vivian Vande Velde as well?

Nope, haven't heard of that one. Is it another werewolf story? I tend to stay away from books about standard creatures ('cause it's hard to find a really original take) but Blood and Chocolate had gotten such good reviews that I thought I should give it a try.

No, it's a vampire story, but the two books are linked in my mind for some reason. Probably the writing style--taking an overdone YA subject and doing it in a classy way.
