What's in a name?

Checked the mail before I headed off to work this morning, and--woohoo! The contract from Peridot Books is now residing on my desk. All looks well except a minor issue of last name spelling... The second "e" has gone a-walking, probably over to the nearest alphabet pub where it can drown its abandonment issues in some frothy mug. I can't really blame them, because even my university and my high school were constantly forgetting it. At least they got my first name right. An extra "a" or "h" and I could not have been held responsible for what havoc I might have wrecked. After all, it wouldn't have been me, but some barbarous amazon by the name of Meagan Crew; not at all a sort of person with whom I would associate (though I hear she's kickass with a railgun).

Will correct the name on the contract and add a note when I send it back to politely remind them to spell it right on the site. More flies with honey...

This post cracked me up XD

I make an effort with people's names once I realised people had major trouble with mine, and how annoying it was. I've had 'Salli', 'Sallie', the rather curious 'Salley'... horrible. And the amount of people who just give up and call me 'Sarah' is disturbing. As if they can't be bothered with Sally so they'll just rename me O_o;

One weird name I came across was 'Meggin', which turns out to be an alternative spelling of Megan. I don't know... Meggin just looks weird. Like it'll end up being pronounced as it's spelt.

Hmmm... Never heard "Meggin" before. I've gotten Meaghan and Magen, but most frequently Meagan (which is strange because I've never met or even heard of anyone who spells her name like that). And about half of my high school teachers started off pronouncing it "Mee-gan" instead of "Meg-an". Gah!

I'm shocked that people have trouble with your name. It's not like Sally's an uncommon name, and I've never seen it spelled in any other way. *shakes head* Sometimes it's hard to believe how clueless people can be.
