Okay, it's finally caught me.

I've been so bloody curious about this BPAL stuff, and last night I gave in and went over all the fragrances, trying to come up with a short-ish list of what I would want to try. Somewhat failed. Ended with about 50 last night, narrowed it to 26 this morning... *sighs* Dammit, I can see how this can get addictive.

Haven't ordered anything yet, though, due to further-narrowing-down-needed and hesitance over the loooooong shipping times. So if any of you know anyone who's looking to sell some of their imps, feel free to send them over here, or to my BPAL wishlist.

Scents as story inspiration... I'm looking forward to experimenting.

Wrote about 2/3 of the second comedy-fantasy story before I realized that it had gotten way too tangled up in itself. (Let's just say, not only is it in a genre and tone I have little practice in, it also had a dialogue-centric conflict involving the two main characters being at opposite emotional extremes, and each switching to the opposite by the end of the story. *coughs* Over-ambitious? Me? Never.) I'm not giving up on it, but I think I'll need to sit down with it and the laptop and start over, once I've got some of the other stories cleared from my head.

Did finish rough drafts of two activity "articles" (for kids mags) and most of an actual article (for same mags) on the bus yesterday. In fact, it was while I was on the bus that I got the idea for the article. Apparently my muse was jiving with the mass transit.

And finally--I have discovered why it is that people must be allowed to put out crappy versions of stories I want to write. ;) Finishing the Spy Goddess book, which essentially took the base premise of Whichway and veered the plot-line in a totally different direction, gave me lots to think about. How can I make Whichway distinctive from all the other kids books like this right from the start, so that people don't pick it up, get bored, and put it down before they find out the oh-so-cool twists that are on their way? Something I've been struggling with for a while, mostly attempting to accomplish it through voice and style. Spy Goddess tweaked something in my brain, and I've figured out how to make it distinctive in a plot sort of way, too, which is a heck of a lot easier to pull off. Yay for Whichway!

But now I think I'll go back to bed for a bit, 'cause I was up too late looking at BPAL, and up too early because I suck at sleeping in.

P.S. You may notice I'm going to get more repetitive with my user icons. I'm not renewing my full LJ membership until I figure out what I'm going to do with my site (which needs revamping) and thus the journal appearance. In the meantime, the only thing I lose that I ever used from the membership is the extra icons. Ah, the sacrifices we make in the name of... um... saving money for buying exotic fragrances? :D

misia's been doing really great reviews of BPAL scents, FYI.

(Btw, do you change your user icons up? Because I could seriously swear I have never seen you use any but the headshot of you. I'm wondering if somethingh is wrong with my journal.)

Yup, until yesterday I had 15 icons, and I nearly always chose one other than the me-pic. Probably you just only associated the icon with me when you saw the me-pic, so that's why the other ones didn't stick in your memory (they're not very flashy or anything). If you want to check them out, both of the entries from the 3rd have other icons, for example, and the one from the 2nd, and one of the two from the 30th, and... you get the idea. :)

Isn't it funny the mass crazes that can spontaneously occur all over the world, all because of the internet? But hey, alchemy is pretty darn cool no matter the situation.

(Vinland and White Rabbit were on my long list.)

You haven't heard!? And you call yourself an internet user. *tsk tsk* ;)

(Actually, I had no clue what it was until about two weeks ago, myself.)

I've got imps of a couple things on your list, which I don't think are my style. I'd be glad to send to you to try out, as a small thanks for all the help with the OS review :-) The spare ones I have from your list are: Hamadryad, Moon Rose, and Tempest. I think I still have your mailing address...

Congrats on the writing progress, too!

Ooooh! That would be lovely. Thank you so much for the offer (and for the congrats, of course). Let me know if you need me to send you my address again.

*happy dance*
