Semi-Report

As you may have noticed, I'm not doing official "Freelance Report"s any more, because I was getting kind of bored with them. But, I will continue to update on my progress.

Got about 1,200 words of a short story out between yesterday and today, only to realize that it wasn't going at all the way I wanted it to... and the way it was going, I couldn't think of how it would go any further. I'm going to have to start over and write it in a different voice, more tongue-in-cheek, I think. My normal writing voice is too bloody serious. Must adopt different personas! For the next couple of days, though, I think I'm going to work on a shorter story I got the idea for a while back, as I'd like to have something ready for writer's group on Saturday.

Wrote up an article and sent it to a low-paying but professional-looking market. Have another one that will mostly require me to rewrite the opening--the rest is pretty good stuff--but my sinuses were bugging me today so I didn't get much done on that. Did query a bunch of software companies about the possibility of doing reading comp writing for them, got a couple 'not looking right now but may later, we'll keep you on file' and one 'passing it on to the content head', so I don't feel too bad about that. :)

Fretting about money a lot. It's silly. We have enough. I just... want to be able to save so much more than we are. Mostly, I want to stop paying rent. Must work on that patience thing.

Must also go check dinner as it should be ready.
