And so it begins

Got to a very slow start on the In Memory Of rewrite this afternoon. About 500 words. The beginning's probably going to take the longest time because I've totally scrapped the original first chapter. I wrote a couple of pages to fill in the gap before I left the rough draft, but they're pretty darn rough.

The main thing I learned from reading over the rough draft (prettily printed on lined paper. heh): I write way too compressed. Can't imagine how anyone reading this thing would have any clue what was going on... unless they were me. Most sentences should be two, if not an entire paragraph. I'm so paranoid about rambling on or telling too much in exposition that I end up with scenes that jump all over the place because they never focus on any action or idea for more than the briefest moment.

*grumbles at self*

Well, it could be worse. I just have to slow myself down and write more than I think I need to for everything that's already there, and that should just about do it. I have some continuity bits to fix and character motives to flesh out/pace better, but nothing major.

And I still haven't read any books that are doing the same thing. *crosses fingers*

Good luck! Let me know if you need readers when you are done with the new draft, I would love to do so.

I will most certainly be needing readers and I'd love to get your feedback! :)

If it's any motivation at all, In Memory Of has struck me as a interesting story, and, from what I've seen (which has probably all been scrapped, but anyway) one worth reading with some intriguing and quirky characters.

So don't give up on it (or else)! :-)

Thanks for the encouragement! I'm sure I will get it done--I am very stubborn. :)
